Ashley Olsen Rocks the Romaneck Clutch

A few weeks ago, Ashley Olsen showed up at the Teen Choice awards with a clutch that made her outfit come together perfectly. This clutch turned out to be the B. Romanek Crocodile Rockstar Clutch shown on the purse blog earlier this week. While the cognac shown on Barney’s website seems a bit dull and bland, the turquoise that Ashley Olsen rocked out is perfectly chic and hip. I cringe at admitting that I want to take style tips from Ashley Olsen on this one

Karen Walker at New York Fashion Week

The only place I’d rather be right now is back in the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week. Many of our favorite designers have hopped on planes from around the world (nix their lipstick of course) and made their way to NYC to show off their goods. While I love looking at the clothes, my focus here is the handbags. A newcomer to New York Fashion week but not to the world of fashion is Karen Walker who hails from New Zealand. Her designs are sleek and her appearance garnered more than 500 guests, including editors from American Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Nylon, Interview and the New York Times. Her spring/summer 2007 line is deemed the “Victory Garden” collection - “inspired by the British land girls of World War II - featured floral prints, puff sleeves and baggy pants, reminiscent of the 40s, as well as neon nylon parkas.” The handbags for spring/summer feature long straps, can be worn across the body, and have a slouchy shape. On a whole, these bags are a total hit in my book- casual meets street chic. Stay tuned for more designs out of NYC.

Putting the “Big” back in “Bag”

As I was checking out the upcoming season’s bag trends, one common attribute seemed to stand out above them all. The fall is all about BIG BAGS. Big and bold, strong and with attitude, giving the term carryall into a whole new meaning. Let the pictures do the rest of the talking:

Camilla Staerk Huge Tote

Dries Van Noten Satchel

Chloe Large Leather Bag

Chanel Super Size Tote

Celine Croc Bag

Louis Vuitton Silver Streak Bag

Clearly, big is IN this fall season. Question is, are you equipped to go with the trend of the moment?

Ted Rossi Python Shoulder Bag

Styles never cease to change, but there are always a few that stay in style no matter what. Snake skin is one. And this Spring 2005, it is once again all over the runways. One of my favorites is the Ted Rossi Python Shoulder Bag. The shape and style of the bag screams out for attention, and let’s face it, the bag speaks for itself.

Made of genuine python and gold leather exterior and blue and purple leather accents, decorated with gold buckle detail and studs gives the bag edge over many others. It also has a leather and gold chain handle (10″ drop), fuchsia bengaline interior and is about 11 x 3 x 6 inches. If you want to totally make the look yours, top it off with Ted Rossi Python Bangles. But python skin doesn’t leave the wallet heavy. This bag will cost you around $328, but when you look that good, who cares?

Fun & Colorful for Spring

Now, I will be the first to admit that the sight of bright colored and fun looking purses let me know spring is ont he way, and I can not wait! It’s time to move from this bitter Winter to Spring, and what better way to enter Spring than with a totally new, hip, fun-loving purse?! Fun is probably the idea behind Fashion Dolls Spring line.

The purses are shaped and colored with the entire mood of Spring in mind. I can’t help but look at the bag and think of the sun shining, cute skirts, sunglasses and of course, a new and totally fashionable tote. Fashion Doll has already appeared in Glamour, CosmoGirl, Self, Seventeen, and Good Morning America.

So grab one quick, and be the first of your friends to sport this totally trendy and carefree bag for the upcoming season!

Want to nab the look from MTV’s hottest show Laguna Beach?

Well look no further. I myself loved the bag LC carried throughout MTV’s hit show Laguna Beach and realized that bag is quite the growing trend. A newly growing company is making this same hobo style bag, Lolli by Reincarnation, which runs upwards of $300 plus dollars for that totally trendy and practical bag.

Stars such as Cameron Diaz, Lindsay Lohan and the Olsen Twins have been seen sporting the newly trendy Lolli bag. The perks to this bag are the plethora of colors offered that can suit any girls needs for any outfit, but the price is a bit high. Starting at $300 for the medium bag and running up over $1500 for the bag made of Ostrich leather, the Loli bag may not be in everybody’s price range.

Have no fear, there is a way you can grab the same style for a quarter of the price, and nobody has to know. LC from Laguna Beach did this, and pulled off the bag quite nicely. A hobo style ring bag made by MELIE BIANCO is taking the same trend as the stars but costs between $50 and $65. So quickly girls, go steal either style, whichever suits your budget, and grab the hottest trend of the season.

Rent-a-Purse - What a novel idea

Movie rentals, tux rentals, car rentals and now purse rentals?? Seems totally outlandish, but actually who came up with such a brilliant idea? Although we all want to be like the famous quad from Sex and the City, face it girls, we can’t always have a different bag for a different day, attitude, outfit, and occasion.

So the brains behind Bag, Borrow or Steal have devised a one of a kind idea in purse rental. You can either sign up for Diva, Princess, or Trendsetter status; Diva being the most expensive bags. Within your status (determined by the price you pay for your monthly fee) you can rent a bag for as long as you want. And when you decide you need a change, send the bag back and choose a new bag. The idea behind the concept appeals to the girls who want to keep up with the always changing purse trend for each new season. So I say why not?
