Louis Vuitton Patent Leather Monogram Satchel

The Louis Vuitton section of The Purse Forum is always hustle bustle and a wealth of knowledge about new bags. Yesterday Couturegrl inquired about a new LV bag she spotted in Cosmo magazine, and POOF! the detectives of tPF helped her find pics and an approximate price. The Louis Vuitton Patent Leather Monogram Satchel is a large body bag with a triangular shape. The approximate retail is $1680. Please let everyone on the forum know if you have any other information. Inquire with Louis Vuitton. Now back to the board!

Marc Jacobs Collection Tie Tasha

There was a time when being associated with the 80’s was a fashion faux pas. But today when I sport a somewhat side ponytail and leggings I know that the 80’s are back in style. Honestly, I love the 80’s and now finally am appreciating the so-called style associated with it. Marc Jacobs tends to stick to the basics, but two of the bags for fall are styled after the 80’s and I am certain not everyone will want to pull it off (much like other 80’s styles). The Marc Jacobs Collection Tie Tasha combines 80’s flair with its soft supple leather two oversized double-color ties. While at Bergdorf Goodman, I tried this beauty on and realized 2 things: first it is not made for everyone- it is really different, second is that I love it and want it for me!!

This bag is oversized, 19″ x 14″ x 2.5″ and is accented with golden brass hardware and a golden brass chain shoulder strap. Like I mentioned before, the ties are what make this bag what it is. The two-toned ties are black and green and add the 80’s touch to this bag. So if you miss the days of neon and leggings and the unforgettable side-pony, this bag may suit you perfectly. Buy it through eLuxury for $1950. Also there is a smaller size, the Marc Jacobs Collection Tie Blondie, available in brandy with double top handles for $1850 via eLuxury.

Louis Vuitton Taiga Dersou

After a day of carrying my new Louis Vuitton Taiga Dersou around New York City, I am confident to say that this is the ultimate man bag. No doubt about it.

Its strap is long enough for a comfortable cross-body fit (I am not a small guy at 6′1″, 215lbs…), the inside compartment fits my 17 inch Macbook Pro like it was made for it. I initially had eyeballed the smaller LV Viktor or LV Alexei, which wouldn’t have been wide enough for the laptop, though. If you are looking for a stylish messenger for your boyfriend, husband or yourself, those are definitely two models to consider. Being a guy who carries around his 17 inch Macbook like it was an essential part of my body, I had to go with a wider version. At the Louis Vuitton store on 5th Ave, the friendly SA presented me with the aforementioned models, but I ended up with the bigger Dersou, because it seemed to be big enough to fit the ‘puter. When I arrived at home, I realized that it actually did!

The Louis Vuitton Dersou is made of waterproof canvas, which makes it wind-and-weather proof and keeps its contents nicely dry. Whether you want to carry the $1,270 bag into the rain, is a different story. The flap is made of my favorite Louis material, the Taiga leather. The texture almost makes the leather seem like a vynal material, it seems very durable and I am sure it will be of great service for many, many years. Inside, you have a zipper compartment and two vertical patch pockets under the flap. An addictional large zippered pocket on the back gives extra storage space.

What can I say? I am loving it. This purchase is both exciting… and dangerous as well - I’ve already caught myself peeking at all the other wonderful men’s collection goodies Louis Vuitton has in store. The store experience itself was a lot of fun, I would like to thank my SA Sandy P. for her help and making me feel comfortable purchasing this bad boy. The Dersou, as well as many other Louis Vuitton bags, clothes and accessories are available through eLuxury.com. I don’t think I would ever purchase any high class item online though, the in-store experience is just too much fun!

Vlad Goes Louis Vuitton

Yes, it’s true. I’ve joined the dark side. Last night, after a crazy day, Megs and I strolled into the Louis Vuitton flagship store on 5th Ave in New York City and I walked out with a gorgeous Louis Vuitton Taiga Dersou Messenger Bag! It’s such a beauty, very discreet, the taiga leather is very durable and the silver bucket detail with LV engraving matches the black bag perfectly. It went for $1,270 plus tax, which seems like a lot, but considering that this bag will last forever, I don’t feel bad about it at all. To see more detailed pictures, hit the forum link below!

Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Karung and Tortoiseshell Bag

While simple handbags are easy to match with many outfits, quirky and decorative handbags appeal to my imaginative side. I fell in love with Bottega Veneta last summer when I had the chance to try on and feel the quality of the bags while in Germany. Since then I drool over Bottega Veneta bags, literally. So finding this lush exotic looking BV makes my heart skip a beat. The Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Karung and Tortoiseshell Bag is a limited edition intecciato karung leather bag accented with faux (yahoo!!) tortoiseshell beads and fastening. The inside is lined in pale blue suede along with camel leather. Although the tortoiseshell is faux, this bags price coincides with the exotic being real: available through Net-A-Porter for $4100.

Side note: This bag totally may not be loved by all. I just showed Vlad and his immediate reaction was “Oooh that is pretty hideous!” Ha. So, it really is different strokes for different folks!!!

Fendi Metallic Pleated Folded Clutch

I am sure you all know the song “Reunited and it feels so good”. That is my theme song right now

I was a bit weary that the man would not make it here, but he was waiting for me after work at one of about 40 Starbucks in Times Square. We had a great dinner at a cozy Cuban joint in midtown, then I delighted myself in some Tasty-Delight (one of many reasons that I love NYC) and then I couldn’t go home without another Starbucks run. Turns out that I ate more than the man in this relationship last night- YIKES! Vlad is still on European time so we were in bed by 9 and awake at 7. Boo! But that makes today nice and long and gives us some time in the morning to post.

I surprised Vlad with 2 pair of tickets to Broadway shows while he is here. Tonight is the first one. For any show the best bag to take with you is a clutch. This is the one major department that my bag collection is lacking. Time to find the perfect clutch. The Fendi Metallic Pleated Folded Clutch

integrates the beauty of gold metallic with the texture of pleated fabric. The shape is a bit different and I love the purse clasp fastening along with the fold down component. While reading about the additions seems overwhelming, actually viewing them makes it all come together. There is gold leaf suede trim, silver rhinestones on one side, a gold logo on the other side, and orange satin lining on the inside. Although black resonates in my mind as the perfect clutch color, I find it perfectly fitting to need a metallic evening bag like this one. I may drag Vlad to go check it out with me today; after all, I am treating him to the Broadway shows right?! Buy this clutch via Net-A-Porter for $660.

Dior Rebelle

Ladies, we need your help. More specifically, our moderator Jill needs your help. Jill is currently in a little bit of a tight spot. Her SA was kind enough to provide her with two pictures of the Dior Rebelle, in both camel and chocolate brown. Which one should she go for? Personally, I think the choc is quite delicious, what do you think?

Westie Puppy Purse

It’s a dog!? It’s a purse?! It’s both!

I think the createurs of this repulsively hideous *thing* give dog lovers too much credit. No way in a thousand years do I see a sane woman carry this thing (no offense to those who buy one and actually carry it). Yikes. For $34 via Bia Collection.

Now this reminds of an idea that my friend had a few weeks back - he suggested to provide a service for people to have their passed pets turned into handbags. Any VCs in for this one?

Day Birger et Mikkelsen Embellished Shoulder Bag

While some say different strokes for different folks, with this bag I could not agree at all. Yes my opinion is merely my opinion, but this bag is beyond hideous to me. The Day Birger et Mikkelsen Embellished Shoulder Bag just hurts my eyes to look at. While the sequin embellishment is alright, the color scheme makes me dizzy enough to fall over. The tassel and bead detailing which hang from the bottom are so up and over any kind of tasteful tassels. What I can say is that this bag will never hang from my arm. What about you? Via Net-A-Porter for $184.66.
